The 2023 BEG Annual Conference will take place in Lisbon, Portugal.
Lisbon is one of the oldest cities in the world and the second-oldest European capital city (after Athens).
We write now to give you advance notice of the conference, in the hope that you will be encouraged to make your travel and accommodation arrangements early.
The conference will take place on Sunday 28 May 2023 to Monday morning 29 May 2023 and will once again be sponsored by AlixPartners for which the Bar European Group is very grateful.
As usual, there will be a conference dinner for delegates and accompanying persons, which will be held in the grounds of the Pestana Palace Hotel (The Old Stables) – weather permitting (there will be a back up at the hotel just in case….) and an accompanying persons tour on Sunday 28 May – a guided tour of Lisbon including lunch. The post-conference lunch will be an optional extra and will be held at 5Oceanos restaurant overlooking the River Tagus. After lunch please do feel free to explore the city of Lisbon should you so wish. Full details of the conference programme will be circulated soon.
The conference venue and hotel will be the Pestana Palace Hotel & National Monument, Lisbon.
The Pestana Palace Hotel is located in a restored 19th century palace and is close to the city’s main monuments. It has two swimming pools (indoors and outdoors), a spa and beautiful gardens classed as a National Monument
Special conference rates have been negotiated – €235 for a single room or €250 for a double room. The Bar European Group has reserved 35 rooms which can be booked on a first come first served basis. Please use the following link to book a room – if you have any problems with booking please do let me know. The first option will be for a single room at a rate of €235 if you wish to book a double room please click on edit and amend accordingly. They have also agreed to offer the special rate for any additional days you wish to stay which you should also be able to amend through the edit button.
The nearest airport is Lisbon with direct flights from all major UK airports. Depending on numbers, we will seek to organise one or more coach transfers from the airport in due course. Though Lisbon Airport is only 7 miles from the city centre.
